Chicago Accessibility

AAR Taxi Reimbursement Policy

AAR offers shuttle service for Annual Meeting attendees for the convenience of attendees. One barrier-free bus on the shuttle route.

In the case that shuttle service is not adequate to meet an attendee's physical needs in navigating official Annual Meeting locations, AAR will reimburse the attendee the cost of making alternative arrangements (i.e., a private taxi). To receive the reimbursement, please submit all taxi receipts with a letter detailing the nature of your physical disability and the Annual Meeting locations that were inaccessible no later than December 31, 2008. Only travel between official Annual Meeting locations (i.e., hotels and convention center) will be covered.

Please contact the Annual Meeting team (annualmeeting@aarweb.org) if you have any questions.

Assistance Persons

Attendees who require assistance from another individual to participate in Annual Meeting activities should obtain a meeting badge for the assistant, as some areas (especially the Exhibit Hall) are off-limits to non-registrants. These arrangements can be made at no charge by coming to the AAR Member Services desk. It will be helpful to us if you have a statement of medical necessity, especially if the reason for needing an assistant is not obvious. It is expected that assistants getting no-charge meeting badges under these circumstances will be individuals who are not independently interested in the study of religion and theology; colleagues who are simply being helpful to a friend with a disability, but who are also perusing and participating on their own, are expected to register in the normal fashion.
